Remembering The Brave
Today my family and I attended a parade. It was exciting, seeing the troops march and the brass band play. It is time to remember those that have died in the service of country. I have no one in my family that died while serving in the military. My mother’s father, Samuel Gillette served as a medic in World War 2. My other grandfather, George, spent several years in the National Guard but never entered war.
Christians from a local church marched in the parade, shining God’s light into the community.
At the end of the parade an old veteran stepped up to the microphone and said a prayer. I never heard all that he said because the power in the town blacked out. Yes it was a very small town. I felt encouraged to see a hero from war that stood strong for his country and as evidence of today, still stands strong for his faith. Never in such a small town have I seen so many Christians.
