Update on my summer Goals

In the “my goals for this summer” post I said that I was striking out on a new trend, working all summer. I have had a rocky summer, adjusting to life Maine. Yet with school just around the corner, I want to summarize what I have accomplished this summer. I mentioned at the beginning of the summer that I wanted to accomplish three goals.
1. I decided that I should get my permit. I am a Maine resident once again and I found out later that laws are different in Maine. I thought it would just be a simple test that the worst boneheads could pass. It turns out everyone under the age of eighteen must go for Drivers Ed in order to obtain their permit. I am part way through this but I probably won’t have my permit until early September. By the way, I drove in the Driver’s Ed car and got up to 50 MPH. Totally loved it. Today I get to drive again for two whole hours! Fantabulous!
2. Another goal of mine was to finish Rosetta Stone Spanish level one. Every time I visit the Dominican Republic I feel so stupid! Try to contain your laughs when you read this. I actually only did the first few lessons. I know; pathetic Right? Well the truth is I rejected this goal partway through the summer so I could just focus on my writing. I am thinking now I should switch to French cause if I live in Haiti, I should now French. The advantage to learning French first is that I could pick it up very easily since Creole is a dialect of French.
3. My third goal, which I dramatized as being really big. I actually wrote a riddle to explain this, yet people noted that I was a little vague. So for those who didn’t guess it, I have decided to write a book! I don’t want to overly discuss what the book is about quite yet. At first I wanted to just publish it as an E-book. However, I am corresponding with a friend of mine who is an Author. She advised me to dream big! She brought to the reality that in order to really give my best, the project would take at least a year or two. I am heading her advice instead of trying to spit out an e-book over the summer. She also thinks I should definitely get hard copies made. Along with this she pointed out that since this book will be geared for teenagers, the advantage of waiting is that I can speak with more authority when I write and most of all, create a better product. In reality other teens are more likely to listen to me if I am older.
Now I ask my fellow teens, what have you done with your summer? What have you accomplished? If you set goals for yourself this summer did you whip yourself, slaving for 100 hours a week to finish the goals despite the hardships? Guess what, me either. But you know what, I made a discovery this summer. I can’t be more enthusiastic when I say that, “I love to write!” I have written over ten thousand words towards my upcoming book. For a writer I know that that is practically nothing. I heard that Professional writers write around three thousand words a day. It is quite an accomplishment for me though. With every word I have felt God’s presence in my room. It has been an amazing experience. I may never publish my book. It might just turn out to be another one of my fanciful dreams. All I know is that the deposit in my brain and the endless feeling of being revived will stay with me forever.

How about that sailing ship model, have you taken a shot at putting it together?
Thanks Uncle George. Yah I haven’t done more that take it out of the box a look inside. I can already tell it will take several days though. Great to hear from you. I hope all is well.
Hey Jeremie!
I enjoyed reading your goals for the summer. It is great to have goals in life. I have been working on a song for Haiti. I hope someday to use this song to raise funds for Haiti…it is a goal I’ve had for several years now. I hope to work on it with my brother this winter–maybe have it complete in the spring??
Sorry for my late response. Wow that is so amazing! I will pray that God will put the words in your heart. Can’t wait to hear it!
